Three presumed armed robbers were yesterday shot dead by the police amid a shootout at the UTC Junction in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
As indicated by Punch, one of the hooligans, who evaded being shot by an exceptional knowledge group from the Inspector-General of Police, said they had wanted to assault a plane having a place with Arik Air.

"On cross examination, the suspects said they were set for assault an Arik Air plane," the state police representative included.
Recognizing the harmed suspect as Peter James, Omoni said he had admitted to being one of the individuals from a posse that murdered a police corporal amid the All Progressives Congress rally in Okrika in 2015.
"Today, November 28, 2016, the IGP Intelligence Response Team, taking a shot at believable insight, caught a four-man outfitted theft posse, which had a mission to assault an Arik Air plane.
"They had made arrangements to assault the travelers and anyone who might repulse them. The IGP group captured them and on locating the police, the presumes opened fire on them.
"At that point there was a trade of flame toward the end of which three of them were slaughtered and one was captured.
"The captured suspect, who gave his name as Peter James, 30 years of age, and a local of Bayelsa State, admitted to have killed a cop, one Corporal Ifeanyi, at an APC rally in Okirika at some point a year ago.
"He is at present helping us with our examination," Omoni said.
He recorded things recouped from the suspects as one GPMG rifle with 1000 rounds of ammo, one AK-47 rifle and two stacked magazines.
